Annette Rose Turner passed away peacefully at her home in Wimberley, Texas, on September 6, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Annette was lovingly adopted by Robert Alonzo and Barbara Zuerker Rose. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas, where she attended Roscoe Wilson Elementary, J. T. Hutchinson Junior High, and Lubbock High School. She later studied at Texas Tech University, where she was a Tech Beauty, Runner-Up Miss Maid of Cotton, and a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
On March 19, 1960, Annette married the love of her life, Dorman Curtis Turner, in Lubbock. Together, they built a wonderful life centered around their three children: Bobby, Barbara, and Doug.
A gifted artist, Annette owned and operated ART Enterprises, where she designed and handcrafted Christmas and collegiate-themed items. Her creations were sold locally and at the Dallas Trade Mart, eventually reaching prestigious retailers such as Neiman Marcus.
Annette was deeply engaged in her community and a proud member of many organizations, including the Junior League of Lubbock, Water Babes, Red Hat Society, and the Mahjong Club. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was an active member of Chapel in the Hills Church, where she served faithfully on the Women's Guild and as Worship Leader.
A passionate advocate for education, Annette served on the PTA and played a pivotal role in launching the LEAP program in Lubbock ISD, helping to expand learning opportunities for students across the district.
Later in life, Annette discovered her biological roots and formed a meaningful bond with her half-sister, Michelle Petty-a connection that brought her great joy and a deeper sense of belonging.
Annette was vibrant, spirited, and unapologetically herself. She embraced life with humor and heart, loved deeply, and cherished her family and friends with unwavering devotion.
She is survived by her children: Bobby Turner of Las Vegas, NV; Barbara Turner Ammons of Wimberley, TX; and Doug Turner (Kelly Hays Turner) of Lubbock, TX; her grandchildren: Chandler Hill (Adina Gray Hill) of Denton, TX, Brandon Turner of Katy, TX, Joseph Ammons of Austin, TX, Nathan Ammons of USAF Okinawa, Japan, Rose Ammons Bishop (Joe Bishop) of Pensacola, FL, Hannah Turner of Lubbock, TX, and Logan Turner of Lubbock, TX; and her great-grandchildren: Ash, Tai, and Bree Hill. She also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends.
Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Annette's honor to Wimberley Chapel in the Hills or a
charity of your choice.
