Lisa Crane Obituary

Lisa Crane, a kindhearted, successful businesswoman and master of knowledge passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023. A long-time resident of Wimberley, Texas, Lisa was a devoted mother, sister and grandmother to her family who loved her dearly.

Lisa McDaniel Crane was born on October 7, 1958, in Florala, Alabama to William H. G. McDaniel, Jr. and Betty Rogers McDaniel. Lisa's formative years were spent in Florala until at the age of 16 she left home to attend Birmingham-Southern College. After achieving a degree in Economics and Business Administration, Lisa attended the University of Texas Law School, attaining her Juris Doctor degree. As an attorney and real estate developer, Lisa assisted in the creation and completion of numerous Austin downtown buildings that are still seen today.

It was during her time as an attorney and real estate developer that she met and married her husband of 29 years, Les Crane, owner of Longhorn Dental. Lisa joined Les as a partner in the business and together they successfully expanded it into the largest group dental practice in Central Texas. They sold the practice now known as Carus Dental to pursue other interests and travel the world.

Those who knew Lisa knew her willingness to entertain and orchestrate her husband's interests and grand adventures. For many years they successfully owned, bred, and raced Arabian horses throughout the United States. They later became interested in Japanese Wagyu cattle and were on the forefront of the introduction of this cattle breed to the American market. Many happy days were spent traveling extensively and adventurously; the beaches of Belize and Destin, Florida were always a special place for her and her family.

Surviving to treasure her memory are her daughter, Leslie Crane Whisler (Russell) and her son, Jack Tanner Crane and grandchildren Russell Myers Whisler and Madelyn Elise Whisler. Also surviving are her brother, Michael McDaniel (Samantha), nephew Ellis McDaniel, and niece Lily McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and husband.

An event honoring her life will be held on Sunday, June 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Prima Vista in Wimberley. Since this is a celebration of her life, please feel free to dress casually in bright summer colors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of our servicemen and women or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley, TX 78676. For more information and to sign the online registry, please visit thomasonfuneralhome.com.
