Blake Mayfield Obituary

Blake L. Mayfield, 36, of Bargersville, IN passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018. He was born October 27, 1981 in Winchester, IN to Gene Austin Mayfield and Velia (Nunez) Mayfield.
He married his best friend Suzanne R. "Suzy" (Moffatt) Mayfield on May 30, 2009 in Indian Rocks, Florida, she survives. He was a 2000 graduate of Winchester Community High School where he played football, baseball and wrestled. In 2004, Blake graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Franklin College. He was a proud member of the Franklin College Football team and member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He earned his Master's Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Blake had a passion for teaching and helping students. He has served many students in his 15 years of teaching and has always been a student favorite. He finished his career at North Grove Elementary for Center Grove School Corporation.
Blake and his family attend Emmanuel Church in Greenwood, Indiana. He enjoyed coaching his sons' football teams for Center Grove Bantam Football League. Blake's brother Lance followed in his footsteps playing football at Franklin College and pursuing a career in education. The love and friendship these brothers shared is one of a kind. Blake loved his family and was the happiest when they were spending time together.
Survivors include his wife Suzanne R. "Suzy" (Moffatt) Mayfield of Bargersville, IN, two sons, Carson L. Mayfield and Ethan B. Mayfield both at home, his parents, Gene Austin Mayfield and Velia (Nunez) Mayfield of Winchester, IN, brother, Lance Austin (Meghann) Mayfield of Franklin, IN, maternal grandfather, Santiago (Senior) Nunez of Winchester, IN, paternal grandmother, Lois (Moore) Mayfield of Winchester, IN, father in law, Larry Moffatt of Columbus, IN. Aunts, Betty (Bill) Oswalt, Linda (Joe) Wood of Union City, IN, Rose (Lloyd) Ertel of Winchester, IN. Uncles, Jim (Vicki) Nunez, Mike Mayfield of Winchester, IN, Joel (Sheila) Nunez, Williamsburg, IN, Oscar (Sue) Muncie, IN and Travis (Patti) Mayfield of Morristown, IN and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Austin Mayfield, maternal grandmother, Viola (Rocha) Nunez, and mother in law, Tresa (Bradley) Moffatt.
Services Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Friday, August 31, 2018 from 3-8PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Memorial contributions First Merchants Bank to the Blake Mayfield Memorial Fund or at First Merchants Bank, 901 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
