Mr. Carl Edwin Runner

1932 - 2021

Mr. Carl Edwin Runner, 88, of Lynn, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2021.
Carl was born on December 2, 1932 in Randolph County, Indiana to Ira D. & Irene O. Davis Runner, both of whom preceded him in death. He married the former Faye Lilly Grimes Chamness on September 18, 1982. They were blessed with 33 years before Faye's death on June 27, 2016.
Carl was a 1951 graduate of Spartanburg High School. He was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Poplar Run United Baptist Church. Carl loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carl will be missed by his son, Clarence Chamness and his wife, Tina; son, Kenneth Chamness and his wife, Mendy; daughter, Michelle Baker and her husband, Rod; grandchildren, Kayla (Morgan) Clevenger, Kyle (Rebecca) Chamness, Jackie (Cody) Wolfal, Bobby (Beth) Chamness, Corine (Howard) Hanson, Jay (Nicole) Baker, Kassandra (Adam) Kempert and Carley (Timmy) Baker; 17 great-grandchildren plus 1 on the way.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Brandy Marie Wiseman; great-grandson, Quinton Xavier Wolfal.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 28, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Spartanburg Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 11:00am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 28, at the funeral home.
