Joseph Ridgeway Obituary

Joseph V. Ridgeway, age 82, entered eternal rest on March 17, 2025. Born in Noblesville, Indiana on November 29, 1942, he was the fifth child of Gerald and Mary (Castetter) Ridgeway. Joe graduated from Ward Jackson High School and shortly after served in the National Guard.
At age 21, he met his soulmate Charlotte Grimes, whom he married on July 3, 1964, and spent 61 wonderful years together. Joe dedicated 25 years tending to his farm in Winchester, where the couple raised their two sons, James and Darrell. Living a life devoted to his Savior, his faith served as a guiding light through every stage of life. Joe also worked at Maul Technology, retiring in 2005 after 45 years of employment. He had a passion for remodeling houses and was an avid woodworker, a hobby he passed on to his sons. Joe's home became a gallery of his life's work, adorned with countless skillfully crafted pieces. He was known for his playful antics and always bringing laughter to those around him. He treasured his role as a grandfather, always offering his wisdom, love, and a bit of laughter.
He leaves behind the cherished memory of his beloved wife, along with sons James (Renee) Ridgeway and Darrell (Tracie) Ridgeway. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Ashley Slaven, Alyssa (Billy) Timmons, Jamie Ridgeway, Candace (Tyler) Hunt, Hannah Ridgeway, and Jacob Ridgeway; as well as 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Bradley and Berniece Grimes; father and mother, Gerald and Mary Ridgeway; brothers, Dale Ridgeway and Loren Ridgeway; sisters, Sue Hersberger and Linda Wagner.
A service to celebrate Joe's life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 11:00 a.m. to service time, March 22nd, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Weimer Cemetery of Winchester, IN. Joe was a wonderful friend to Dick and me. He gifted us with several beautiful items made in his wood shop. He and Dick shared over 60 years of friendship. Rest well, my friend.
