Lane Strock Obituary

Lane E. Strock, 91, a resident of Meadow Drive, Union City, Ind., died, Monday, April 16, 2011 at the Brethren Home in Greenville, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 10, 1921 in Portland to Raymond D. and Clara E. Patterson Strock. He was a graduate of Portland High School with the class of 1938 and of Indiana University. He joined the Navy during W.W. II and served as a corpsman on hospital ships in California and the Pacific Ocean during the War. He was in O.T. S. in Pennsylvania when the war ended. After his discharge from the Navy, he finished his college degree and began his life work ending his carrier at Arcola aluminum for 35 years. When his parents moved to Union City, he followed them moving to Sidney, Ohio, where he maintained an apartment coming to Union City on the weekends. After retirement his full-time residence became Union City.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Union City, serving two terms as the church council president. He will be missed by his family for his generous nature and his love of family, by his friends and neighbors for his congenial personality.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Carol (Dan) Wasson of Union City, Andrew R. (Judy) Strock of Spring City, Pa., Alice (Jim) Gossett of California, Phyllis (Jay) Franklin of New Haven, Sharon (Joe) Brewer of Jackson, Mich., and Barbara (Dave) Swaim of Carmel; great nieces and nephews, Dan (Danielle) Wasson of Muncie, Bob Wasson of Muncie, and Andrew Jared Strock of Spring City, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Betty R Strock Riegle of Greenville, Ohio; and a first cousin, Harry (Ruth Ann) McLaughlin of Portland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Merle and Roy.
A service to celebrate Lane's life is 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Union City, Ind. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery, Portland.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Fraze-Brooks Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Union City, Ind.
