Marilyn Williams Obituary

Marilyn Simpson Williams passed away March 8, 2025 after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Dr. V.Richard Williams June 11, 2020.
She was born in Winchester IN on March 2, 1932, daughter of the late Francis and Mary C. Simpson. She graduated from Winchester Community High School in 1949.
Marilyn attended Indiana University in Bloomington and Earlham College in Richmond IN. She was a member of IU synchronized swim team.
She received the Jefferson Award in 1990, for her swimming instructor accomplishments. An estimated 6,000 children learned to swim under Marilyn's instruction.
Marilyn taught physical education in Indianapolis Public School System. She was a Brownie leader and a member of the First Presbyterian church in Winchester and sang in the choir. She was a founding member of the YMCA swim team and the 8 and under swim coach. She loved spending time at Siesta Key, playing golf , snow skiing, horseback riding and swimming.
Survivors include four children, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Daughter, Susan Leland ( Dr.Craig) and grandchildren Angie Hayden (John), Megan Prichard ( Ricky), Elizabeth Martin ( Craig), Kevin Leland ( Kristin).
Son, Dr. Robert S. Williams ( Mary Ann) and grandchildren, Andrew Williams, Dr. Rachael Garrett(Josh), Andrew Randell and Matthew Randell.
Son, Dr. John R. Williams (Jani) and grandchildren, Maricarol Phipps (Michael), Marcia Frame ( Dr.Tyler), Matt Williams, Maggie Mahlie (Michael).
Daughter, Katie Kiefer (Mark) and grandchildren Scott Baker (Emily) and Alec Baker.
Sister, Sara Lou Tucker ( Gene) nephews Danny Tucker ( Misty), David Tucker (Deb) and James Tucker.
She was Preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter Annelise Mary Baker.
Friends and family may call from 4pm until 7pm Friday, March 14, 2025 at Winchester Towne Square Community Centre in Winchester IN.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 15, with visitation 1 hour prior at Winchester Towne Square Community Centre.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Walker Funeral Home.

I was one of Marilyn´s swim kids. She was such a kind and nurturing woman. I´ll miss visiting with her in our coinciding Walmart runs. Sympathy to Bobby, John and the rest of the family.

We are so sorry to hear Marilyn has passed away! She was a great friend and we will miss her. We will remember her at the beach always smiling and basking in the sun. We had some great times with her and Dick. It´s Always hard to let the great ones go! Love to all her family! The Kelleys
