With a spirit as bright as the morning sun and a heart as deep as the ocean, we bid farewell to Mary E. "Betsy" Bowmer, a woman whose charisma was contagious, and whose love knew no bounds. Born on March 25, 1945, in Winchester, IN, Betsy spent her 79 years painting the world in shades of kindness, reliability, and unwavering support.
Betsy graced the world with her vivacious spirit, bringing joy and comfort to those around her with her captivating charm. After graduating from Churubusco High School in 1963, where she was a respected member of the Order of the Rainbow Girls. Before she embarked on a fulfilling career as an Administrator at Maxon Corporation in Muncie, she had worked at Silver Towne in Winchester, IN. Blessed with diligence and grace, she served the Maxon Corporation faithfully until her retirement.
Her dedication extended beyond her work, as she was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society, bringing her vibrant energy to every gathering.
Betsy's love for life was evident in her hobbies. An avid shopper, she also had a unique fascination for teapots, amassing a collection that was a testament to her refined taste and keen eye for beauty. She found joy in singing with her family, creating a symphony of love and laughter that echoed through the hearts of all who knew her. A devout member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Selma, she lived by the verse, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Her love story with her cherished husband, Randle Bowmer, was one for the ages. They married March 31, 1973 in Jellico, Tennessee. Together, they nurtured a wonderful family that includes their loving children Brent Baumgartner, Rhonda (Brian) Main, and Rick Bowmer, as well as their grandchildren Kyle (Micki) Main, Riley and Sarah Bowmer; and great-grandchildren London, Trevon, Saryah, Gabriel and Lily.
Betsy is also survived by her brother, William (Jean) Helm; step-siblings, Lana (Bill) Campbell, Sue (Sam) Blakeley, David Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon Helm and Frances "Betty" Murphy, her brothers Richard and Robert Helm, her step-father, Gail Murphy; and step siblings, Lois Stroer and Lonnie Murphy.
Betsy's life will be celebrated at the Wilson-Shook Funeral Homes And Cremation Center (Thornburg Memorial Chapel) on Saturday, 11 Jan 2025 at 1:00 pm EST, preceded by a visitation at 11:00 am to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to
