Lillian Gertrude (Rolfing) Abts, 92 of Fountain City, WI, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona, MN.
Lillian was born August 8, 1932, in Winona, MN to Florence (Koenig) and Ben Rolfing. In June 1956, she married Gerald Abts and together they raised five children: Jacqueline, Jeffrey, Jay, Judy, and Janelle. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fountain City, WI.
Lillian attended a one room schoolhouse in Wilson, MN then went on to graduate from Winona Senior High School. She worked at Winona Daily News before becoming a dedicated wife and mother.
Lil enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She particularly liked having family together for birthdays and holidays. She also had great memories of weekends filled with joking, laughter, and good food while camping at Merrick State Park with family and friends. She enjoyed bowling on a women's league in Fountain City. Belonging to a card club and quilting group at church brought her camaraderie. In her later years, she and Jake often spent free time at the casino hoping to win the big jackpot!
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; an infant set of twins, brothers Frank, Earl, Roger and Bernard Rolfing and sisters Marietta Johnson, Lorine Thorn, Rita Thill, Sally Reitz, and Liz.Matton.
She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Abts; Jeffrey Abts; Jay Abts; Judy (Mike) Divilbiss; and Janelle Abts; two grandchildren: Zachary (Taz) Divilbiss and Chantel (Otis) Olitan; two great grandchildren: Zoey and Sean Divilbiss; and sister Audrey Rolfing.
Recitation of the rosary will begin at 9:15 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fountain City, WI with visitation to follow. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. with Fr. John Abts officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fountain City at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and CNA's at Lake Winona Manor for the care of our mother, Lillian, in the final months of her life. We would also like to thank Father John Abts, Father Albert, and Judy Wolfe for prayer and spiritual support.
