Adrian Eugene Cox, 89, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on July 2, 2024. He was born on July 23, 1934 in Winston-Salem, NC to Monnie Murphy Cox and William Eugene Cox. Adrian is survived by his wife, Delvin Mickey Cox of the home; a daughter, Kim Phillips (Jeff) of Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Mickey Cox (Sonya) of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Wesley McIver (Liz) of Winston-Salem, NC, Erin McIver of Winston-Salem, NC, Taylor Cox (Hope) of Knoxville, TN, and Caroline Childers (Seth) of Clayton, NC. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Charlie Mae, and Kendall; and a brother, Bobby Cox (Marcia).

Adrian was a graduate of Hanes High School in Winston-Salem and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, which he attended on a baseball scholarship. He began his career with A.M. Pullen & Co. as a Certified Public Accountant, and later joined Southern Broadcasting Company as secretary and treasurer where he remained for 19 years, until the company was sold. Adrian then became employed by Summit Communications where he remained until he retired as Executive Vice President of the cable division.

Adrian loved sports and played baseball in both high school and college. He also coached Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football for several years. He enjoyed golf and cherished the company of many friends.

The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral & Cremation Service at 2951 Reynolda Rd. in Winston-Salem on Friday, July 5, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or a charity of their choice.
