LAWSONVILLE - Mr. Aunice Mabe, 81, of Lawsonville passed away at his home Sunday, May 1, 2005. He was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Stokes County to the late James Columbus and Etta Mabe. Mr. Mabe felt the burden to organize and with neighbors built the Lawsonville Church of God. "To God be the Glory." In addition to his parents, Mr. Mabe was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Stewart and Lucy Clifton; and a brother, Handy Mabe. Mr. Mabe is survived by his wife, Lois Cox Mabe, of the home; three daughters, Diann Bennett of Lawsonville, Gail Bennettt and husband, Rickey, of Lawsonville and Donna Lawson and husband, Stanley, of Lawsonville; two sons, David Mabe and wife, Lala, of Lawsonville and Jeffrey Mabe and wife, Vicki, of Lawsonville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, May Mabe of Lawsonville, Murphy Rodgers of Pinnacle and Disie Smith of Asheboro; and three brothers, Dewey Mabe of Lawsonville, Dennis Mabe of Walnut Cove and Hoover Mabe of Kernersville. Funeral services for Mr. Mabe will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Lawsonville Church of God with the Rev. Tommy Smith, the Rev. J.T. McAdams and the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Lawsonville Church of God Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, May 2, at Lawsonville Church of God. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Va.
