Callie Brooks Obituary
Mrs. Callie Payne Brooks, 2838 Glenn Ave., Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a chartered member of Shouse Temple CME Church, where she served with the Stewardess Board, Willing Workers and Choir. She is survived by a son, James P. Brooks; a daughter, Vicki B. Stennis; a son-in-law, Dr. L.V. Stennis, all of the home; a devoted nephew, Arthur (Mildred) Payne; a devoted niece, Barbara P. Ferguson of the city; a niece, Jacqueline P. Chandler of Lanham, Md.; other nephews, Dr. Lawrence and Arnold Payne of East Amherst, N.Y., and James L. (Ramona) Payne of Greensboro; a special friend and neighbor, Janie C. Murray; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Shouse Temple CME, where Pastor Constance Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. 30 minutes before the services at the church. The remains may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 17, at Douthit Visitation Center. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
