Carolyn Faye Vaughn Cain

Carolyn Faye Vaughn Cain, 83, of Tobaccoville, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Village Care of King.

Ms. Cain was born in Forsyth County, NC, on June 17, 1942, to the late Marvin Eugene and Mallie Knight Vaughn. She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco. Carolyn loved to travel and had an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed working puzzles and socializing with her friends by going out to eat at some of her favorite restaurants. She was a faithful member of Antioch United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Cain, and her son, Derek Cain.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shannon Orcutt (David); her granddaughter, Megan Orcutt; her special sisters-in-law, Ruth Cain and Verlie Ayers; and a host of other friends, family, and loved ones.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Antioch United Methodist Church in Rural Hall, NC, with Rev. Dr. Robert Nations and Rev. Pat Dixon officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church: 9220 Antioch Church Rd. Rural Hall, NC 27045.
