Charles Foster Obituary

Charles Kent Foster

May 30, 1950 - Sep 26, 2025

Charles "Kent" Foster, 75, of Pfafftown, NC, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025.

Kent was born on May 30, 1950, in Mocksville, NC to the late Ruth Garnette Foster.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, including two deployments to South Korea. His military experience affected him deeply, and he continued to carry the lessons of honor and resilience with him long after his time in uniform.

Kent had a deep passion for books, film and travel. He believed in seeing the world with curiosity and joy. Whether near or far, he loved exploring new places, meeting new people, and sharing stories with loved ones.

Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the warmth he brought to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Donna (David) and Michael (Mary); and granddaughter, Julia.

A service honoring his life will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to his heart.

Was a real pleasure knowing Charlie. Met him thru Carl Larson who was another great guy when I first moved to Salida. All my good friends are gone now and I´m in my 90s. Salida was an interesting place to live to say the least and Charlie was a great friend.

I am sincerely grateful for the friendship and brotherhood I had with `Foster´. I have learned so much from on him. He taught me patience, and also gave me great advice.

We shared many many meals, and our conversations varied from his life experiences, and willing to give me advice and listen about my then search for my wife (Vanessa).

Vanessa and I always loved hanging out with him, having Chinese buffet, talking etc. I know how he loved Mary. He was always telling us his adventures with her.

Please know, Kent made a sincere great impression on my life. He taught me above work things as well, if I did not know the answer, he would.

Believe me when I say... he was a sincere awesome guy.

Rest in peace my friend, I sincerely miss you.
