Mr. Charlie Aubrey Nichols, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his daughters home. He was born on October 22, 1941 to the late Harvey and Ethel Chilton Nichols. Mr. Nichols retired from Roadway Express after 35 years of service and was an accident-free, 1-million-mile driver and was also a farmer. Mr. Nichols and his wife met at Odell Sandwich Shop; it was love at first sight a love that continued for the next 62 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Elizabeth "Madge" McMillian Nichols; daughters, Jennifer Nichols, Lora Chilton (Michael); grandchildren, Elizabeth Marion (James), Charlie Nichols (Sandy), Lora Hill (Kurtis), Alex Nichols, Landon Chilton (Ivey); great-grandchildren, Natalie Nichols, Mabeline Hill, Sawyer Hill; sister, Frances Nichols; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wall (Bobby), Doris McMillian; brother-in-law, John B. Mitchell; special angel, Elizabeth; special nephew, John Mark Mitchell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by one sister and one brother; brothers-in-law, Garson and Charles McMillian; sisters-in-law, Mabeline Mitchell and Betty McMillian. All services will be private. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made online to Novant Health Oncology. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
