TAYLORSVILLE - Clara Jane Lail Eckard, 94, of Taylorsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wilkesboro, N.C., surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on November 10, 1930, in Catawba County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Dexter Lee and Ellen Ailene Harris Lail.

Clara was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and she loved spending time with her family. She was involved in her church as well as other charities.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Clifford Eugene Eckard; her sisters, Ellen Brittain and Barbara Lail; and brother, Harold Lail. Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Vickie Lamb and husband, Charles, Monica McSwain and husband, Buddy; three granddaughters Megan Yeatts (Patrick), Laura Redwine (Gary), Kimberly Lamb; as well as beloved four great-granddaughters, Lucille and Edith Yeatts, Lyla and Adeline Redwine. As well as many loved nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Julianne Shipes and Annie Evans and others at Westwood Hills for their love and care of Clara.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Advent Christian Church, 1941 N Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601 or a charity of your choice in Clara's name.
