TOBACCOVILLE - Mr. Cornelius Abraham Pitts, 90, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Village Care of King in King. Mr. Pitts was born April 9, 1916, in Forsyth County to the late Rufus Cornelius and late Marticia Teague Pitts. A gentle person, dearly loved by his family and respected by many friends, he was humbly grateful to be a ministerial servant in the King Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and active in service as long as his health permitted. A talented cabinet-maker, he loved the beauty of natural woods and retired in 1978. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Edith Hawks Pitts; a son, Jerry Cornelius Pitts; his brothers, Harlee, Denny, Clifton and Julian Pitts; and two sisters, Elsie Morris and Meta Beeson. Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Mary Pitts, of the home; two daughters, Audrey (Bob) Bodenhamer of Lewisville and Connie Carper of Statesville; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, George Pitts, of Jonesville; and numerous special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Brother Larry Langdon and Brother John Pesenti officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, July 2, at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the King Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 416 Hartgrove Road, King, NC 27021 or the charity of the donor's choice.
