David Lee "Dave" Edwards, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away on January 7, 2023. He was born in Seaboard, NC on March 3, 1931 to the late Arthur Wallen Edwards and Minnie Boone Edwards. He attended local schools and served in the US Navy after graduation. Following his naval service, he attended Kings College, where he met and married his beloved wife Mae King Edwards. Dave had a long career as a salesman for the Seaboard Coastline railroad, later CSX. He retired in 1988. Throughout his life, Dave was a committed church member, often serving as a deacon and always singing in the choir. Dave was also a life member of Enterprise Masonic Lodge #752. Dave will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters, Arthur Edwards, Helen Bradley, Elizabeth Fleming, Marjorie Daniel and Robert Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mae King Edwards, son Darryl Wiley Edwards (Lisa) of Charlotte, daughter Catherine Edwards Lawler (Andrew), also of Charlotte, granddaughters Melanie Percival (Trent) of Nashville, TN, Shannon Lawler of Boston, MA, Caroline Lawler of Charlotte, grandson Christopher Edwards, currently stationed overseas in the U.S. Airforce, and two great-grandchildren, Lillian Percival and David Percival. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10 at Konnoak Baptist Church, 100 McLean Ave., Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27127-3898. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Konnoak Baptist Church.
