Mr. David Lee Furches, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1931, in Forsyth County to Tom J. and Myrtle Hendricks Furches. He was a member of Bethania Moravian Church and retired from Piedmont Airlines in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Furches was preceded in death by his parents; his younger brother, Joe Thomas; and a son, Robert Eugene "Gene" Furches. Surviving are his wife of the home, Mrs. Ruby Shore Furches; a son, John David Furches (wife, Shirley) of Elkin; two grandchildren, Brie Furches of Louisville, Ky., and Caroline Furches of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Susan Furches; a nephew, Jason Hendrix; and two nieces, Mary Celeste French and Catherine French. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at Bethania Moravian Church, with the Rev. Wayne Byerly and the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard with military rites by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethania Moravian Church Building Fund, P.O. I worked with David from 1978 until he retired. He was a very special person. He will be greatly missed. Ruby, I have missed your chicken pies and the treats you used to bring out to work . I retired Nov 2004. May God bless you all.

I WORKED WITH DAVID FROM 1971 UNTIL HE RETIRED. DAVID WAS VERY TALENTED AND HE TAUGHT ME MANY THINGS. HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND AND I WILL MISS HIM GREATLY. GOD BLESS DAVID AND ALL THE FAMILY.
