Della Vanhoy Obituary
October 1, 1931 - March 28, 2023
Della Ruth Jester Vanhoy of Yadkinville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Ruth was born to the late Floyd and Callie Matthews Jester on October 1, 1931, in East Bend, N.C.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who cared deeply about her family and neighbors. While she will be greatly missed we find comfort knowing she is reunited with her husband of 49 years, Hobert Coolidge Vanhoy, and is experiencing unimaginable peace.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Hobert Darrell Vanhoy, a granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Vanhoy, sisters Ruby Kiger and Pauline Hobson, and brothers Clint, Jack, James, Everette, Howard, Eddie, and Arvil Jester.
She is survived by her children Beverly (Michael) Whitaker, Pam (Martin) Jester, Richard (Toby) Vanhoy, Sarah (Danny) Carter and Paula Dinkins (Tim Caudle); daughter-in-law Rhonda Vanhoy; grandchildren Brian Whitaker, Angie (Bart) Crater, Rita Cain, Amanda (Shawn) Bates, Jamie (Tracy) Barber, Brad Bryant, Justin (Brittany) Howell, Brandon (Otto Reynolds) Carter, and Ashley Bridgman; step-grandchildren Keith (Melanie) Jones, Rodney (Penny) Jones, Holly (John) McCormick, Katie Billings, Dakota (Amber) Billings, and Logan (Lori) Billings; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elsie Jester.
Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Peace Haven Baptist Church by Dr. Jon Bowman, the Rev. Bruce Freeman, and Pastor George Evans. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
The family would like to thank the staff members at Yadkin Nursing Center and Forsyth Medical Center 6th floor staff for the care they provided in the final days of her life.
