Sprinkle, Denise Levesque

November 19, 1927 - January 25, 2022

WINSTON-SALEM – Denise Levesque Sprinkle, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on November 19, 1927 to Raoul and Sadie (Drouin) Levesque. Growing up in a home with 2 loving sisters, she attended school though her advanced studies at St Mary's School of Nursing, in Lewiston. Wanting to continue her education, she obtained her Nursing degree from Case Western University in Cleveland, OH.

While there, she met her future husband, Robert L. Sprinkle, Jr., and after marrying in her hometown in 1954, she headed south - to North Carolina. She gracefully transitioned from a nursing career, to a career of nursing - 7 children - within 9 years! After navigating the toils of childrearing, she returned to a lifelong, part-time career as a Registered Nurse, well into her 80s. Her final service in the joys of nursing ending at Wake Forest Baptist Health, in the Department of Clinics, Surgery.

Through her 94 years of joyful living, she made many friends, especially through her involvement in support of her Church (St. Leo's) and St. Teresa's Guild, as well as her service as a nurse. She was also known to thoroughly enjoy many a round of golf, especially at Forsyth Country Club. She was a proud supporter of the W-S Symphony, the Opera, and many other arts efforts in our fine city. Keeping up with her clan kept her returning to Maine and the beaches of South Carolina regularly - she seemed always on the go - and thriving doing so. Throughout her life though, she was most content just to be in the company and love of her children, her family.

Survivors include her seven children, Robert (Janine), Karen (Larry), Ralph (Beth), Richard (Sharon), Roy, Randy and Drouin. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Libba, Caroline, Emma Grace, Bennett, Brooks, and John Sprinkle. She is also survived by her sister, Monique, and a niece, Susan Crowley. She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille (and brother-in-law Steven) as well as her parents, Sadie and Raoul.

A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Sunday evening, 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Salem Funeral Home at 120 S. Main St. A mass of Christian burial (followed by her inurnment) honoring Denise's life will be celebrated MONDAY, January 31st at 11:00 am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

What a great lady who put up with Bobby and me during our crazy high school and college days. She was really a fantastic lady. She always kept up with us and kept us on the straight and narrow. Thank the good lord for Denny! Mrs. Sprinkle is one of my most admired persons growing up. She was positive, concerned and a truly dignified lady. I knew her as my BSA den mother at Pack 958 and as a scout. she inspired us and made us strive to do what's right.
My memories with your family were always fun and I was blessed by knowing her.
