Mrs. Dorothy Bryant Reeves, beloved Mother and Grandmother, age 93, formerly of 815 W. Clemmonsville Road, Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community. She was born May 28, 1911, in Rosman to Manson Theodore and Carrie Owen Bryant. Mrs. Reeves came to Winston-Salem in 1926. Mrs. Reeves was a longtime active member of Rosemont Baptist Church, where she nurtured her strong faith. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert G. Reeves Sr.; and two sisters, Kathleen Essic and Gertrude Fulk. Surviving are a daughter, Irene Reeves Newsom and her husband, the Rev. Jimmie L. Newsom, of Winston-Salem; and a son, Robert G. Reeves Jr. and his wife, Patricia Martin Reeves, of Naperville, Ill. Mrs. Reeves was also blessed to have seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are the Rev. Jimmie L. Newsom Jr. (Frances) of King; Deborah Newsom Larrimore of Pfafftown, Steven M. Newsom (Patti) of Columbia, S.C., Kathy Welbourn, Mark Reeves and Keith Reeves, all of Naperville, Ill., and John Reeves (Gwen) of Wentzville, Mo. Her great-grandchildren are Glenn F. Newsom (Julie) of Greensboro, Adam E. Newsom (Kristina) of Wilmington, Erika B. Newsom of Greenville, S.C., Taylor Lee Newsom of Columbia, S.C., Sarah Beth Larrimore and Andrew Larrimore of Pfafftown, Robert Welbourn, Amanda Reeves, and Brandy (Elliott) Jackson, all of Naperville, Ill., and Joshua Reeves and Shannon Reeves of Wentzville, Mo. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at King Moravian Church in King, conducted by the Rev. Jimmie L. Newsom Jr. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community, 1000 Salemtowne Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like to especially thank Mrs. Reeves' caregivers in the Special Care Unit at Salemtowne for their loving care and compassion.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Reeves. I know that this is a great loss to each of you. Take comfort & peace in the fact she is now with her Father in Heaven & all the loved ones who have gone before her, where she will also see you again some day. You are all in my thoughts & prayers.
