Eleanor McRae Obituary

Eleanor Odessa Wade McRae, of 1101 Louise Road was called home on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, after an extended illness at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Hoke County on July 6, 1929. She was affiliated with Jesus Resurrection Power Inc. and several social organizations. "Granny," as she was affectionately known, was loved by all in the Easton community. She was a very strong, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, and will be greatly missed. Eleanor leaves to cherish loving memories of her three daughters, Virginia L. Martin, Queen Elizabeth McCummings and Vanessa E. McRae; two sons, James O. McRae and Gilbert McRae Sr., all of Winston-Salem; two brothers, James Obed (Osaka) Wade of Fayetteville and Jerome (Alice) Wade of Bronx, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Gwendolyn Carswell; a devoted cousin, Sheila Haynes Brown; a dear friend, Teresa Becoat; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, from the chapel of the Russell Funeral Home, with Bishop Preston Mack officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
