Eunice Young Obituary

YOUNG GERMANTON - Mrs. Eunice Reid Young, 76, finished her earthly battles on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at her home. She was born in Stokes County to Dewey and Ida Stephens Reid. She was a graduate of Pine Hall High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was employed by Brendle' s Department Store and worked hard on her family farm. She was an active member of Palmyra United Methodist Church and always took care of others as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Oliver Young; sisters, Wilma White and Edith Hicks; and brothers, Dewey Reid, Jr., William Reid, Ellis Reid and Spencer Reid. Surviving are three sons, Randy (Gail) Young, Danny (Janie) Young, and Steve (JoAnn) Young; grandchildren, Gray, Reid, Matt, Amanda, Spencer, Tucker, and Savannah Young; step grandson, Josh Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. An 11:00 a. m. funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 20, 2009 at Palmyra United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Drew Southern will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 this evening, February 19, at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the Mrs. Young' s home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Palmyra United Methodist Church Bus Fund, c/o Nancy Tuttle, 1232 Tilley Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the John Wesley Sunday School Class, Dr. Anthony Bleyer and his staff, the Northside Dialysis Center staff and fellow patients, Jane Fulk, Amber Lawson, Michelle Carlton and Sharon Epps for their competent, compassionate care of Mrs. Young during the past eight years of her illness.

You all are in our thoughts & prayers. She was a wonderful christian Mother & who loved everyone. I worked with her at Brendles & she always had something nice to say about everyone. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. I worked with Eunice at Brendle's in Customer Services for several years, she was a wonderful woman and she especially loved her children, grandchildren and family you all were definitely the apple of her eye. She will be greatly missed by everyone. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord hold you close and give you strength during this time of sorrow. Eunice now has her angel wings just like the angel she was here on earth. She was loved by so many people and will definitely be missed by everyone.
