Evelyn Tanner Spencer

SPENCER KERNERSVILLE - Ms. Evelyn Tanner Spencer, 61, was selected by God to become one of his angels on Friday, September 3, 2010. Evelyn was born January 6, 1949 in Elizabeth, NJ. Daughter of Ollie. M. Tanner of Charlotte, NC and George L.Tanner, deceased, of Marshville, NC. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She was a woman that demonstrated her love through her dedication to her children and being an active member of her church, Branch of Hope in Kernersville, NC. Evelyn was a graduate of NC A&T State University, class of 1971. Evelyn was a Supervisor and served in many positions at the US Postal Service over the last 36 years. She leaves many dear friends from the Postal Service behind. Surviving are her children Michael O. Tanner of Corinth, TX, Raeven M. Spencer, and William M. Spencer III both of Kernersville, NC; brothers, Geoffery Tanner of Rochester, NY, Melvin Tanner of East Orange, NJ, and Kelvin Tanner of Willingboro, NJ; sister, Clarrisa Tanner of Bridgewater, NJ; and mother Ollie Mae Tanner of Charlotte, NC. Evelyn is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
