Fillmore Williams Obituary
June 30, 1927 - March 8, 2024
Mr. Fillmore "Phil" Erwin Williams of Arbor Acres, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024. Phil was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 30, 1927 to Millard Fillmore Williams Jr. and Frieda Tiemeyer Williams. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Signal Corps. and graduated from Purdue University where he majored in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics. He began his career with Western Electric in 1954 and retired from AT&T as an Engineering Manager after 33 years. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for 71 years where he taught Sunday School and served on several committees. For many years, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity, and served as an elementary school volunteer. After retirement, Phil opened a commercial real estate company and in his spare time, wrote and published a book entitled Life on a Funny Farm. He loved traveling, but most of all he loved being Dad to his girls and Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Patricia "Patt" Altom Williams and sons-in-law Robert Forrest Cesarini and Richard Martin Spell. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Shore (Mark), granddaughter Katie Shore Alsip (Kevin); daughter Katharine Spell, grandsons Ryan Spell (Liz) and Matthew Spell (Corina); daughter Carol Cesarini Lyerly (Ron), granddaughters Melissa Peeler (Adam), and Amy Cruz (Michael), grandson Robert Lyerly (Catherine) as well as great-grandchildren, Salem and Wells Peeler, Hallie, Julian and Stellan Cruz, and Olivia Spell.
A private family service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil's memory to support macular degeneration at the Research to Prevent Blindness, 360 Lexington Ave., 22nd Floor, New York, New York 10017 or online at www.rpbusa.org. Condolences may be sent online at www.salemfh.com.
