Gene Tierney Obituary

TIERNEY SUMTER, SC - Mr. Gene Edward Tierney, Sr., 86, of Sumter, SC, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. He was born October 19, 1922 in Shelbyville, IN to James Franklin and Pansy Crail Tierney. Mr. Tierney was owner of Gene Tierney Co., Inc. for 30 plus years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. He was also a past Mason of Salem Lodge 289. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darline Williard Tierney; and a brother, James Martin Tierney. Surviving are one son, Gene Edward Tierney, Jr. and wife, Lee of Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Cary Hodshon and husband, Brian of Winston-Salem; three grandsons, Jeff Tierney and wife, Cindy of Advance, Ken Tierney and wife, Angel and Josh Tierney and wife, Annette, all of Tampa, FL; nine great-grandchildren; and his caretaker and special friend, Kan Lan Brazell. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
