Lawsonville – Gloria Jean Nelson Martin, 83, left her earthly home on Thursday, March 5, 2026 peacefully at her home in Lawsonville, N.C. Gloria was born on August 2, 1942 in Stokes County, to the late George Oliver and Myrtle Mabe Nelson. She spent most of her life farming and raising three sons. Gloria's hobbies were painting ceramics, arts and crafts, puzzles, gardening, she loved to be outdoors. Many of her interest were enjoyed with her good friend Terri Black and cousin, Connie Wilson. Survivors include her sons, William Keith Martin, Kyle Nelson Martin and wife, Fredricka; grandchildren, Bradley Martin and wife, Krista, Breonna Martin and Alicia Tucker and husband, Clay; brother, Benny Nelson and wife, Janet; sister, Lori Lynn Fowler; special niece, Tonya Nelson; very close friend, Lois Hall; faithful fur baby, Maxx. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Brewster Martin; her son, Thomas Kevin Martin; and sister, Annie Ruth Joyce Hall.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Interment will follow in Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Gloria had a quiet strength through life's seasons. Her Legacy is one of love, kindness, and resilience. Gloria's absence will be felt by so many! Today, Tomorrow, Always!
