To Marion and family of Dr. Braden,
We are praying for God's peace and grace to wash over you all during this time. My husband and I both had the opportunity to work with Dr. Braden and it was truely an honor. I spent many late night hours cathing patients at NCBMC with him. He was the most versitile and determined physician I have ever worked with in that setting. He never, under the most extreme circumstances, ever lost his focus or cool. It was a pleasure to work with him and learn from him. He was a generous teacher and mentor. We are keeping you in prayer.

Marion and family -
Grace and peace to you, family and friends of Dr. Greg. To know and be known is life’s greatest joy. Greg knew his Lord and was known by Him, and many. He was a healer of broken hearts. He reached out to me not as the renowned Cardiologist but as a friend while he was yet at the Mayo Clinic and in great physical pain. It was then that he offered a healing word to my heart, when my brother Jim (also a beloved physician) had suddenly passed away in April. Dr. Greg, like Dr. Jim was a gentle healer. He held a quiet strength along with his brilliant mind. He and I shared a name, a love for our families, for the sky and for Jesus. His kindness, generous spirit, and determined will to live was known beyond his family, to his co-workers, patients, friends and fellow believers, and in this last year by me as well. Those in Christ will see him again for they are known – he fought the good fight. "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12"

Cyndi Dexter

August 17, 2007

Marion, I'll never forget how Greg, while dealing with his own suffering at the Mayo Clinic, took the time to call another dear friend whose brother had died. Although Greg had much to complain about, he prayed for and comforted our friend. We will greatly miss our Sunday dinners with the Vander-Dexter-Braden dining club. We love you and will miss Greg so much. Greg, Cyndi, and Brad Dexter.

Dear Family of Dr. Braden,
I was referred to Dr. Braden in 1997 for a cardiac procedure, and remained his patient for several years afterward. He NEVER failed to ask about my latest career experiences in any visit, revealing a truly human side to the brilliant mind. I had no idea he was even ill, so was completely shocked to learn of this loss. My thoughts are with you, as we all remember this wonderful man and healer of men and women.

Dr. Braden was my Dad's doctor. He was a brilliant man. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers. John 14:1 "Let not your heart be trouble: ye believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there may ye be also"

August 17, 2007

I was saddened when I read of Dr.Braden's passing in the newspaper. My husband was lucky enough to have had Dr. Braden do his heart cath a few years ago. I was lucky in that Dr. Braden took the time to show me my husband's problem on the x-rays and explained to me how he had fixed it. He told me my husband was a walking time bomb with 99% blockage in one of his arteries.
I have had much respect for this man and the world has lost a great doctor. I do know that he is now out of the pain he had and is with our Lord.
My prayers and sympathy go out to all the Braden family.

Dear Marion and Family, Although I only met you once, when you and Greg were attending a Cardiology Conference in New Orleans, I could see how truly happy you made him. I finally tracked Greg down last week and was able to speak with him. It took me totally by susprise to hear of what he had been through the last few years but I knew he was in good hands with you by his side. Some of my fondest memories, while working as a sales rep with Heart Technology, are those of working with Greg and staff in the Cath Lab. He was a true mentor who showed tremendous passion as a Cardiologist. I was one of the fortunate individuals to be able to learn a lot from Greg. Althougt I moved back to Louisiana, I still counted him as one of my dearest friends and an indivdual with whom I have great respect for. My prayers and deepest sympathy are extended to you and all of his and your family members. May God be with you all, as he is with Greg.

I am so sorry to hear of Greg's passing. Greg and I were next-door neighbors from elementary school through high school in Biloxi, MS. I remember him knocking on my door in Jr. High to see if I was interested in starting a medical club at school. I am not surprised to read of his many medical accomplishments since this was his passion from a young age. Our deepest condolences on your loss.

To the Braden family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of the falling asleep of Dr. Braden. I knew him as simply "Braden", as I worked for him for three years at Baptist. He truly loved his family, his work, and, of course, flying. The world has lost a truly great human being. I was priviliged to meet and work with him. He taught me everything I know about cardiology. Know at this time that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May you take comfort knowing he is no longer suffering and is now whole again and is with our Heavenly Father and we will all see him again one day.

Marion,

Looking back, I just have to chuckle thinking about how our families were brought together. Never in a million years did I ever think we would become the dear friends we are now.

Well, I thank God for bringing you and Greg into my life. Greg was an amazing man. Brilliant, to say the least, but also Greg was an example of how one should face adversity. He remained kind and gentle plus his sense of humor was always present. Even though he was in great pain most of the time, he continued on with a cheerful heart.

It am truly sad that he is no longer here with us. I will miss him terribly. Still, I am thrilled that he is with the Lord now and is no longer suffering. It is comforting to know he is with God and that we will see him again one day.

We love you and are always here for you.
