January 17, 1930 - February 15, 2021
Hazel Bell King Royal, age 91, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021. She was born January 17, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Miles and Neillie Porter King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Green Royal; a granddaughter, Sarah Whitaker, and fifteen brothers, and sisters. She is survived by her children, Pattie (Tom) Whitaker, Ricky (Barbara) Royal, and Larry (Tonja) Royal; grandchildren, Cindy (Jason) Kerr, Angela (Jeremy) Amick, William (Meridith) Whitaker, Jeremy (Sandra) Melton, Tamla (Tim) Caudill, Rebekah (Samuel) Hutchins, Daniel (Jackie) Royal, Jared (Saoirse) Royal; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Angeline Mook, and several nieces and nephews. Hazel loved working in her yard as long as her health permitted. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2021 at Northwood Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Webb and Dr. Allen Barker officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Royal will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Thursday, January 18, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 4:30 PM. The family respectfully requests all persons attending the funeral service, please wear a mask and respect social distancing. The family would like to thank the staff of Yadkin Nursing Care Center and they would also like to thank Hazel's caregiver, Patricia Lanning, for the loving care shown to Hazel. She will be truly missed. I know mom and Dennis have already missed her being there and seeing her face coming out and walking. She’s always been such a blessing to myself and Joseph. She would always walk over to see how we were when we were at mom’s house. I live a couple of hours away now so I can not come by funeral home so wanted to send a message here. Praying for your family and thank you for being such good friends to mom and Dennis. Please continue to communicate with them because they love y’all like family and I know I sure loved Miss Hazel like family. I’ve enjoyed so many times taking her food when I would cook for them. Can’t believe she was in her 90s though. I did not realize she was that age because she sure didn’t look like it or act like it.

Hazel was such a sweet lady. I had the privilege to know her at the nursing home. She always had us smiling when we walked in the room. We will deeply miss her. Prayers to the family
