Mr. Horace Monroe Lane, 60, affectionately known to family and friends as "Tony," was called home to glory on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on Sept. 6, 1945, in Newport News, Va., the son of Bernice Hardy Lane and George Lane. He was a member of Living Word Fellowship. Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his father, George Lane; a son, Anthony Lane; and a daughter, Tiffany Lane. He is survived by his dear mother, Bernice Hardy Lane; his fiancee, Magenia Shealey of Winston-Salem; four sons, Jonathan, Christopher, Marcus and George; four daughters, Lena, Lori, Rosee' and Tameka; daughters-in-law Tonja and Sharon; sons-in-law Bruce and Brian; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his two former wives, Myrtle Lane of Maryland and Gloria Lane of Winston-Salem; a very close family friend, Colette Haynes; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Monday, Feb. 13, at the chapel of Russell Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
