Isaac Osborne Obituary

THURMOND - Mr. Isaac Jerry Osborne, 80, of Thurmond Road passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Osborne was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Wilkes County to Charles Andrew “Dack” and Emma Messick Osborne. Mr. Osborne was retired from Pepsi Bottling Co., was a member of West Elkin Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during World War II. He was also a member of Wilkes County Buddies and Old Time String Band and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Isaac Jerry Osborne Jr.; three sisters, Tessie Stinson, Sally Osborne and Lila Holcomb; and two brothers, David Osborne and Jake Osborne. Survivors include his wife, Edith Miller Osborne of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Eli (Myra) Osborne of Union Grove; a sister and brother-in-law, Mattie (Tom) Spicer of Elkin; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Osborne will lie in state Saturday afternoon at Hodges Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Prichard and the Rev. Vernon Ball. A memorial service will follow in the church. The family will receive friends after the memorial service. The family will appreciate flowers, or memorials may be made to Grassy Creek United Methodist Church. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Osborne family.
