Jack Brookbank Obituary

BROOKBANK GREENSBORO - Mr. Jack Earl Brookbank, 83, of Greensboro went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 14, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Brookbank was a member of Vandalia Baptist Church. Jack proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II with his fellow Seabees. During his life, Jack has served his God, his country and his family. For himself, he loved nothing better than to ride his horses, restore antique cars and show his cars at local car shows. He was a lifetime member of Piedmont Horseman' s Association along with being a member of the V8 Car Club. If you knew Jack, you knew his love for his horses and cars. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Brookbank; along with his brother, Joe. Mr. Brookbank is survived by Jolene, his wife of 49 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Leslye and Ronnie Apple; and granddaughter Hannah Apple Brookbank, all of Greensboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at George Brothers Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Donnie Oates officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 15, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
