Janice Elaine Stevens Hutchens, 77, passed away Sunday morning, April 6, 2025, at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living.

Janice was born on October 2, 1947, in Stokes County to the late John Elmer, Jr. and Nellie Kiser Stevens. She was retired from AT&T/Lucent with 33 years of service and was of the Baptist Faith. Janice loved being outdoors. You could often find her tending to her garden, canning vegetables, or taking care of her beautiful flowers. Janice also enjoyed decorating her home and playing computer games. She was very dedicated to her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone else. Janice was an animal lover and loved to take care of them as well as any that would show up at her home. She enjoyed bible studying with her sister, Faye and cousin, Barbara.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Lynn Stevens and a brother, Gary Lee Stevens.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Jerry Dean Hutchens; sister, Faye Shaw; brother, Bobby Wayne Lawson (Heather); nieces, Felecia Shaw, Hannah Lawson, Hailey Lawson, and Zandrea Stevens; her great nieces and great nephews, Lily and Logan Shaw and Tristan Smith and Kristofer Stevens; sisters-in-law, Bebe Wheat and Cathy Fraley; brother-in-Law, Mark Hutchens (Tina); and many other special nieces and nephews.

There will be an 11 a.m. funeral service held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Burroughs Chapel with Pastor Roscoe Bowden officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Falls Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home.
