Jerry Rowe Obituary

Jerry Herman Rowe, 99, of King, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Trinity Elms Assisted Living. He was born on April 9, 1926, in Maiden, NC, to the late Lloyd Odell Rowe, Sr. and Neta Gaynelle Bolick Rowe. Jerry dedicated over 37 years of service to R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he retired as a Chief Mechanic. A lifelong Lutheran, Jerry was one of the first members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem. In 1965, he became a charter member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Kernersville, later returning to St. John's in 1974. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Bellamy Rowe; his first wife and the mother of his children, Viola Speas Rowe; his son, Michael Rowe; brothers, Lloyd Rowe, Jr. and Jack Rowe; and sister, Betty Rowe Kunze. He is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Rowe Westendorff (Martin); grandchildren, Eric Westendorff and Karl Westendorff; daughter-in-law, Carla Hicks Rowe; sister, Patricia Rowe Eury (Max); as well as his nieces, nephews, and their families. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Molly Grace Atkins of ComForCare Home Care and to the staff at Trinity Elms Assisted Living for their compassionate care in Jerry's final years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. A reception will follow. A family graveside service will be held later that afternoon at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Officiating the services is Pastor Tyson Labuhn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 2415 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
