John Andrew Dewees

John Andrew Dewees, 59, of Winston Salem entered into the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1967 in Winston Salem, NC to John Eldon McDill and Mary Jane Pfaff Dewees.

Andrew attended public and private schools in Winston Salem and also attended Mars Hill University. He studied Forestry at Forsyth Tech and pursued a career as an arborist with several companies in the Winston Salem and Galax ,VA area. He was currently employed at the family business, Pfaff's Inc. He lived briefly in Crested Butte, CO and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and skier. He had a passion for music, especially the guitar. He loved all kinds of music including bluegrass, classical, country, and was a loyal Grateful Dead follower.

He is survived by his parents, John and Mary Jane Dewees of Winston Salem, a sister, Mary Elizabeth Glaze (Brandon) of McCormick , SC. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 1:15 pm on Wednesday April 1, 2026 with a Memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at Home Moravian Church, the reception will follow in the Parlor at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Moravian Church, 529 S. Church St, Winston Salem, NC 27101, the Sunnyside Ministry, 319 Haled St.,Winston Salem, NC 27127, the Friends of Moravian Prison Ministry, 459 S. Church St.,Winston Salem, NC 27101, or the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made to www.salem fh.com
