Born to Eternal Life: March 25, 2026
Janine Dale Draffin passed away peacefully on the morning of March 25, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born in
Raleigh, North Carolina, to Ken and Juanita "Nina" Hoffman, Janine's life was a journey of adventure, service, and unwavering faith.
Growing up in a family that moved from
Raleigh, NC to Alaska then
Charleston, SC and Plant City, Florida, Janine developed a deep appreciation for the world around her. After graduating high school in Florida, she sought the quiet beauty of the North Carolina mountains at Mars Hill University. She later attended the University of South Carolina to study photography, capturing the beauty of creation she so admired.
Ultimately, Janine followed in the footsteps of her mother, Nina, finding her true calling in nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she served across home health, hospice, oncology, and case management. She also dedicated herself to the vital fields of psychiatric nursing and addiction recovery, providing a steady hand and a compassionate heart to those navigating their darkest hours. Janine was known not only for her clinical skill but for her gift for leadership-ensuring that systems and processes were always designed to provide the highest level of care and dignity to every patient she touched.
Above all else, Janine's greatest mission was her home. She treated her role as a mother as a sacred calling, raising her children to know and love Jesus. She turned her household into a mission field, teaching her children to pray, read, and memorize the Word. One of her most cherished legacies was ensuring her children and nephews, Robby and Kenny Stephens, hid Galatians 2:20 in their hearts: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
In her final years, Janine found peace on her "slice of heaven on earth"-a small farm in
Galax, Virginia. There, she took immense pride in caring for her pigs, chickens, and her five beloved dogs. Whether she was enjoying the beaches of
Charleston, SC or the mountains of
Asheville, NC she always looked for the beauty in God's creation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Juanita (Morris) Hoffman. Her memory will be cherished by her twin sister, Jamie McWilliams (Todd), and her older sister, Stacey Hoffman.
Janine leaves behind a legacy of faith through her four children: Liesl Sines (Brandon), Micah Noah, Daniel Draffin, and Mary Draffin (Eric Hartle). She was the proudest grandmother to Silas Sines, Alyssa Draffin, Kiersten Hartle, Aubrey Hartle, and James Hartle. Her warmth will also be missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who looked forward to every family reunion and gathering.
We rest in the confidence that she is now fully healed and at perfect peace with her Savior. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Janine's life and legacy.
