John Foltz Obituary

FOLTZ CLEMMONS - Rev. John Charles Foltz, 85, of Clem-mons climbed the stairway to heaven to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, November 30, 2009. Poppa fought a brave long battle with cancer, but praised the Lord daily for his loving grace. John was born October 27, 1924 in Davidson County, the son of the late Alva Eugene and Bertha Caroline Crouch Foltz. He was a member of Winston First Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Arcadia High School and Allentown Bible Institute. He served with the US Navy during World War II and pastored Nazarene churches for 38 years, retiring in 1985. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Ruth Dieter Foltz, his daughter-in-law, Vickie Wonders Foltz and his son-in-law, Johnnie Hamilton. God blessed our father with another wife, Linda Hendrix Foltz who for 12 years loved and cared for him until the end. Also surviving are two sons, David Charles Foltz of Nashville, TN and Dennis Eugene Foltz and wife Sandy Shoe Foltz of Mt. Mourne; three daughters, Karen Foltz Semones and husband, Vincent of Hillsville, VA, Donna Foltz Ackley and husband, Ed of Climax and Kathy Foltz Hamilton of Julian; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Evva Foltz Hanes of Clemmons; three step-children, David Hendrix and wife Sandy, Lee Hendrix and wife, Tammy and Melissa Price and husband, Glenn all of Advance and six step grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Dr. Ken Bradstock officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Brother Foltz was a fine pastor during my formative years at First Nazarene in Mooresville. He married my wife Pearl and I in 1965 and was influential in my entering the ministry. He and his family was always special to us. May God give His peace and grace to the entire family.
