Mrs. Julia Ann Speaks Ernest, 90, formerly of Waughtown Street, Winston-Salem, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 30, 1915, in Wilkes County. She was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Allen Ernest Jr.; a grandson, Jack Allen Ernest Jr.; two brothers; and three sisters. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Barber, and her husband, Kenneth, of Winston-Salem; a son, Jack Ernest, and his wife, Wanda, of Lexington; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Joe McWethy officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to Waughtown Baptist Church, 1538 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
