Mr. Lawrence Mason Godfrey, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born in Rock, WV, on May 13, 1935, to the late Calvin Smith and Dora Aust Godfrey. Mr. Godfrey was a charter member of Way of the Cross Ministries. He owned and operated Godfrey Construction Company for over fifty years. Mr. Godfrey had a passion for starting new churches in every aspect. He loved singing and helping people. Most importantly, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Godfrey is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Harris Godfey; sister, Mae Butt; and brother, Cecil Cruthers. He is survived by his two sons, Calvin Godfrey and wife Kathie of West Virginia and Mark Godfrey of Winston-Salem; three daughters: Alice Dunaway of Norfolk, VA, Brenda Allen and husband Glen of Concord, and Phyliss Deloucas and husband Carlos of Tampa, FL; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Tommy Godfrey and wife Judy of Oregon, Charles Godfrey and wife Scarlette of Charlotte, and David Godfrey and wife Mert of Charlotte. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at Way of the Cross Ministries, officiated by Pastor Mark Godfrey. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory – Walkertown.
