On Monday, September 1, 2025, God sent his angels to bring our beloved Lola Black, affectionally known as "Nana Lola" and "Mother Black" home. She was born on August 27, 1929, in East Bend, N.C., to the late Samuel Stimpson, Sr. and Laura Jarrett Stimpson. Lola was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories: her devoted son, Jerry, (Delores Paulette) of Durham, N.C.; grandchildren: Morris Stimpson (Michelle) of Marietta, Ga., and Jennifer Ivey (Shareef) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jayden, Mia, Braylon, and Grayson; and her sister, Mary Rodman of Asheboro, N.C., Lola attended Yadkin County High School in Boonville, N.C.. She left the family home in East Bend and moved to Winston-Salem where she provided services to the family of Dr. Eben and Betty Alexander for sixty-two years. During this time, she also worked at the Thomasville Furniture Company for twenty-five years, until she retired.
Lola devoted her life to Christ at young age, and she was a life-time member of Benbow Chapel AME Zion Church in East Bend, N.C.. She was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 6, 2025, family visitation at 11 a.m. Interment in Benbow Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery.
