Mabel Bogus Obituary

ELKIN - Mabel Amalie Bogus, 74, of Elkin passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007. Mabel was born in Wilkes County on Nov. 7, 1932, to Alvin Cox and Maude Sidden Cox. Mabel was of the Catholic faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anthony Bogus; a son, Gregory Stephan Bogus; two daughters, Kathy and Karen Bogus; a sister, Myrtle Williams; three brothers, Brady Cox, Conrad Cox and Luther Cox. She is survived by four children; Robert Anthony Bogus Jr. of Oregon, Kathi (Mike) Vestal of Pilot Mountain, Janet Carol Bogus of Wilmington and Mari Beth Bogus of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Lillian Newman and Brenda Carter, both of Elkin, and Zell Cheek of Thurmond; a brother, Charlie Elmer (Onie) Cox of Traphill; four grandchildren, Teresa Marie Vestal, Kimberly Michele Vestal, James Matthew Bogus, and David Luke Bogus; special friends, Lucy Watson, Lowell and Faye Thomas and Maggie Martin; and hospice volunteer Beth Barnhart. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with Father Conall McHugh of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Winston-Salem officiating. The Bogus family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 24, at Johnson Funeral Home, 615 W. Main St., Elkin. Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is serving the Bogus family.
