Martha Helsabeck Obituary

RURAL HALL - Mrs. Martha Louise Flynt Helsabeck, 83, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community following a long period of declining health. She was born on August 17, 1919, in Forsyth County to the late Dr. Solomon Spainhour Flynt and Sally Stauber Flynt. Martha was a lifelong member of Rural Hall Moravian Church. Following high school she attended Woman's College in Greensboro and was later employed by Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company (12 years) and Dixie Chipboard (22 years), and retired from Forsyth County Social Services in 1981. She married John Robert Helsabeck on July 27, 1943. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helsabeck was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, John Helsabeck of the home; her daughter, Martha Lea Helsabeck of Rural Hall; a brother, Stauber Flynt of Elkin; and a host of very special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The Rev. James C. Newsome Jr., the Rev. Bill Marr and the Rev. Arkon Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Rural Hall Moravian Church, P.O. Box 487, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
