Mary Elizabeth Mills Mahathey

MAHATHEY WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mills Mahathey, 62, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 5, 1947 in Kannapolis, NC to Grover Rommie and Rosalie Newsome Mills. A member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, she was in the Trinity Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. In addition she was a member of the local Needlepoint Club. She retired from Sara Lee with 25 years of service. Surviving are her husband, Cecil Mahathey of Winston-Salem; one son, Shawn Wellons and wife, Myrna, of Raleigh; two step-sons: Gary Mahathey and wife, Judy, of Winston-Salem and Mike Mahathey and wife, Vivian, of Winston-Salem; a step-daughter, Sharon Helsabeck and husband, Joe, of Vero Beach, FL; a sister, Connie Sloop and husband, Dale, of Bolivia, NC; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren and two special nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
