STONEVILLE - Mrs. Myrtle Webb Joyce, 82, of 148 Van Buren Road, Stoneville, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death. Mrs. Joyce was born on July 15, 1924, in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Lee N. "Bay" Webb and Josie Etta Joyce Webb. She was retired from Tultex Mills. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Benton Joyce, in 1989. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Joyner and husband Roger of Kernersville, Sharon Pearse and husband Tom of Rougemont, Betsy Joyce and husband Joseph Sgro of Thornton, Pa., and Tony Benton Joyce and wife Nancy of Stoneville; two sisters, Mary Gann and Dorothy Church, both of Stoneville; grandchildren Aaron Joyner and wife Deborah of San Jose, Calif., and Phillip Pearse, Brooke Joyce and Natalie Sgro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Ayersville Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Doug Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Glenn's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Ray Funeral Home, and at other times at her residence. The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Elizabeth Gann and Barbara Barnes, and former caregivers, Priscilla Welch and Linda Clodfelter. Memorial contributions may be made to Ayersville Baptist Church, 310 N.C. Highway 770, Mayodan, NC 27027. Ray Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.

I didn't know Myrtle, but am a distant relative of hers thru her mother Josie Etta Joyce. I'll be thinking of her family tomorrow. Best wishes during this difficult time.
