Nancy Branch Obituary

Nancy Branch

Feb 27, 1935 - Oct 29, 2025

It is more blessed to give than receive…Persevere when storms come your way…Learn from your mistakes…Apologize when you do wrong…Love unconditionally…These were the actions demonstrated and taught to us by our beautiful mother, Nancy Swaim Branch.

With her family by her side, she accepted her welcome into Heaven on October 29, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Forsyth County on February 27, 1935, to the late Ben and Bertha Kimel Swaim, she was the youngest of seven children. Nancy's family love story began when she married the love of her life, Lawrence M. Branch, in 1957. Mom was a devoted and supportive wife and they had many happy years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, who had the utmost love and respect for them. Mom loved being a stay-at-home mom and the girls loved it too. Her gentle nature and enduring sacrificial love made her the perfect mom. When her daughters got married, she gained two sons-in-law whom she loved as her own. Her name became "Mimi" when four grandsons came along, and this opened an exciting chapter of her life. She covered her grandsons completely with her love. They describe her as kind, resilient, a role model, patient, and a source of stability, along with being the keeper of "Mimi's famous snack cabinet!" Mom and dad were always present for the boys' important activities. Family vacations at the beach were always a highlight for the grandsons. Mom was fortunate to see all her grandsons get married and loved spending time with them and their wives. When the great-grandchildren started being born, mom enjoyed meeting each one and they were guaranteed to put a smile on her face. Baking and cooking were mom's favorite hobbies, and she loved gathering the whole family together, especially for the holidays. Nancy was active in her church, where her favorite activities included directing Vacation Bible School, Christmas plays, and helping with the Special Ministry program. She was a member of Triad Baptist Church. Mom was an encourager and friend to many. The theme of her love story was her love for Christ, who was her cornerstone and made her love for family and others complete. While she may be gone from our earthly presence, she will forever be entwined in our lives. Thank you, mom, for teaching us - The reason for the crucifixion…The power of the resurrection…And why we sing Amazing Grace…

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers - Ben, Lawrence and Billy Swaim; sisters-Fern Daniels, Edith Hicks, and Doris Raper. Surviving are two daughters, who loved her immensely, Gina B. Sides (Randy), and Tonya B. Crump (Stan); four very special grandsons - Matthew Sides (Patience), Austin Crump (Danielle), Hayden Crump (Lauren), and Hunter Crump (Annie); her adorable great-grandchildren - Madeline and Anna-Kate Sides, Harper and Austin Lewis Crump, Jr., and Lainey Crump; along with two great-grandsons on the way.

Visitation will be held at Triad Baptist Church, on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Triad Baptist Church, 1175 S. Main Street, Kernersville, N.C. 27284. A special thanks to Medi Home Hospice, and our nurse Robin, for providing mom with excellent care. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
