Odean Pinnix Obituary

JONESVILLE - Mr. Odean Pinnix, 77, of Swan Creek Road passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born April 22, 1925, in Yadkin County to the late Walter Jones and Nannie Calloway Pinnix. Mr. Pinnix was a retired farmer and was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin daughters; a sister, Opal Holbrook; and three brothers, Garvey Pinnix, James "Al" Pinnix and Roby Pinnix. Surviving are his son, Garvey Dean Pinnix of Jonesville; a daughter, Brenda (Tony) Mathis of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Kristin (Bryan) Walker, Lisa (Ben) Roberts, Todd (Renieta) Mathis and Richie (Lisa) Mathis; great-grandchildren Ethan Mathis, Corey Roberts, Jake Roberts and Harley Walker; a sister, Athelene (O.C) Welborn; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Swan Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim White and the Rev. Howard Wilburn. He will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Pinnix will be taken to Swan Creek Baptist Church at 5 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 at the church. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Pinnix family.
