Patricia Petree Obituary

Petree, Patricia Peyton

April 4, 1935 - May 22, 2024

Patricia Peyton Petree, lovingly known as Patsy, passed away at Trinity Elms in Clemmons, NC on May 22, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on April 4, 1935, in Delaware County, PA to the late Edwin Aubrey Peyton and the late Pattie Mae Watson. Patsy's passion was helping others and that showed in every aspect of her life as she dedicated herself not only to her family but to a long career in nursing. Patsy graduated from City Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing in 1958 and received a Bachelor of Science from Winston Salem State University. City Memorial later became Forsyth Memorial where Patsy became a much beloved instructor of Surgical Nursing. In 1985 Patsy became the Director of Nursing at the Blumenthal Jewish Home in Clemmons and remained there until her retirement in 2000. Patsy's impact extended far beyond her career. Her empathetic nature seemed to draw every animal in need of rescue to her doorstep and she welcomed them! Her concern & care for the stray cat population in Clemmons was legendary! Patsy is survived by her son, Edwin Aubrey Petree; her sister, Adelaide (Tinky) Hamilton; and sister-in-law, Linda Petree Kolb. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Petree, and sister, Nancy Peyton Nance. Patricia Peyton Petree will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, nieces, nephews & and all whose lives she touched with her kindness. Her legacy as a compassionate nurse and a loving family member will be remembered.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Clemmons Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Christopher C. Thore and Pastor Dwight Ball officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Forsyth Humane Society honoring Patsy, 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Proverbs 16:31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
it is attained in the way of righteousness.

Malachi 3:16

Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.

Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

Numbers 6:24 - 26 : 24 "`"The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace."´

I was a student of Mrs. Petree at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in the '60s. I remember her fondly as a kind, caring, intelligent instructor.
