ELKIN - Mr. Paul Edward Kennedy, 78, of Lyles Street passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Kennedy was born May 23, 1925, in Surry County to Nathaniel and Mary Etta Sprinkle Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, his wife, Mary D. Kennedy, preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Greg (Deana) Kennedy and Phil (Wanda) Kennedy, all of Winterville; two sisters, Addie Shores and Velma Jennings, both of State Road; four grandchildren, Aaron Kennedy, Miriam Kennedy, Rion Kennedy Casey Kennedy; and two stepgrandchildren, Meredith Hardee and Natalie Hardee. The funeral service for Mr. Kennedy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Calvary Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Jesse Garmon. Burial will follow at Central Full Gospel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Mr. Kennedy will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 469 Oakland Drive, Elkin, NC 28621. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Kennedy family.

Phil so sorry for you and your family.When I worked for Chatham I use to work with your Father. He was a fine man and will be greatly missed.In case you dont remember me we graduated together class of 1972 Elkin High School.
