Paul Rudisill Obituary

RUDISILL KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Paul David Rudisill Sr., 89, of Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 23, 1920 in Lincoln County to Oscar Pinkney and Bertie Rhyne Rudisill. Mr. Rudisill was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the European Theatre, receiving two stars in Normandy, Southern France; and the Asiatic Theatre, and receiving one star in Okinawa. He was retired with 35 years of service with Southern Railway as a conductor. He was a crewman on an excursion that carried Dwight D. Eisenhower, as well as the Freedom Train in 1976. Mr. Rudisill was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a loving husband and father, an avid gardener, and loved his Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Helen Hollar Rudisill; a sister, Gladys Sheldon; and a brother, Rhyne Rudisill. Surviving are one son, David Rudisill and wife, Denise of Taylorsville; two daughters, Mary Pike of Winston-Salem and Marie Rudisill of Greensboro; one granddaughter, Kim Miller and husband, Mike of Winston-Salem; two great-granddaughters, Mary Katherine and Margaret Sadie Miller; a brother, Soloman Rudisill; two sisters, Mary G' Segner and Frances Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. John Bishop and the Rev. Dr. Ford G' Segner officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Konnoak Baptist Church, 400 McLean Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. David,Mary,Marie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your heartache. We loved both of your parents and their presence are going to be missed in this old world. But at least we know they are together and happy again. All of your families should know that you now have two beautiful angels watching over you with smiles on their faces.
